We will cover:
- Plant families and botany
- Meeting and learning about 2 herbs for health in detail each session
- Tasting and experiential knowledge
- How to make: drying herbs for tea blends / tincture / vinegar / infused oils / creams

A four-week exploration of our locally-growing medicinal plants in gardens and wild spaces of Waltham Forest, where you will learn about cultivating, harvesting and sustaining plants for health support as part of our neighbourhood ecosystems.

  • Meet plants in their habitats and in dedicated growing spaces; practice observation and botany skills with species ID, plant families and sensory connection
  • Taste and delve into the medicinal uses and applications with clinical practice knowledge from Rasheeqa
  • Explore 2 herbs in detail each session and plant seeds to take home
  • Practical remedy-making; learn one preparation each session

What we might make:
Plantain leaf – infused oil with daisies for bruises
Calendula flower – sun infused oil for skin inflammations, dry for tea
Yarrow – tincture
Sage – vinegar or oxymel with Rose petals
Rosemary – salt scrub for bath
Comfrey – infused oil for healing cream
Lemon Balm – lip balm for cold sores with infused oil and essential oil
St John’s Wort – sun-infused oil, dry for tea
